Equilis Prequenza 'flu vaccine information

The active substances are:

Equine influenza virus strains:A/equine-2/ South Africa/4/03
 A/equine-2/ Newmarket/2/93
Tetanus toxoid 

Proven activity of the product is:

Active immunisation of horses from 6 months of age against equine influenza to reduce clinical signs and virus excretion after infection, and active immunisation against tetanus to prevent mortality.

Influenza

Onset of immunity:2 weeks after the primary vaccination course (first 2 doses)
Duration of immunity:5 months after the primary vaccination course (first 2 doses)
 12 months after the first revaccination (and subsequent boosters)

Tetanus

Onset of immunity:2 weeks after the primary vaccination course
Duration of immunity:17 months after the primary vaccination course
 24 months after the first revaccination

The timings schedule for a full programme are:

From 6 months of age: 2 injections, 4 weeks apart of Equilis Prequenza Te. Followed by a booster 5 months after the second dose. Thereafter boosters at 12 month intervals.
